The Future of Science is Continuous

Rapid advancements in scientific practices have transformed how researchers conduct their work, characterized by large-scale data usage, collaborative projects, and interactive narratives. Existing tools and standards have not evolved to support these developments effectively, leaving current standards inadequate. Efforts to address data management, software integration, and research communication challenges have begun, but teams often tackle these issues in isolation. This fragmented approach has hindered our ability to reach our collective goals. It’s time to shift the conversation toward continuous processes in science—one that embraces iteration, automation, and deep integration with data and computation.

Continuous Science Foundation is committed to transforming scientific communication through the development of foundational standards, practices, and a comprehensive library of open-access tools that connect ongoing research to how it is published and communicated. Our goal is to create a framework for the distribution and consumption of openly published scientific work by facilitating networked knowledge creation, machine readability and clear crediting and attribution. By establishing the next generation of open science standards and best practices shoulder-to-shoulder with researchers to better integrate how their work is conducted to the publishing of it. We are focused on rolling up our sleeves and building the future.

Continuous Science Foundation was founded in 2024, and our priorities over the coming two years are to compile and improve open-access science communication tools; and to connect with open-science leaders to contribute and push forward modern standards for science communication and publishing.
